A great drone for beginners
A great drone for beginners! I do have to mention that one should do their research and learn the federal and local laws about flying drones even before taking off on your first flight. Outside of that…. this drone is so fun to fly and it almost seems like it can fly by itself!
Everything I had hoped for. Flys well. Easy to control. Tons of features. Love my spark.
Too much work!
When I first got this drone I was impressed at the ease of use, it would have been 5 stars. The set up process was pretty quick considering it was brand new. I got the controller and my phone set up and synced to the drone inside of 10-15 minutes. One annoyance I noticed soon after getting this drone its that there is a firmware update practically every time I use it. It is very annoying that i cannot just turn it on and fly it, I am always forced to update the software first. It also always needs to be calibrated. All was well for the first few months then it became more difficult to start up and fly quickly. I am guessing one of the firmware updates screwed things up. Now each time i use my drone I have to reconnect phone to controller and controller to drone as if I just took it out of the box and am setting it up for the first time. I have gotten to the point where I rarely use the drone anymore because it is a 10-15 minute process to try and get it all set up each time. Very annoying! Also looses connection quite often, where as it did not before. Now mid flight my phone screen will go black and say not connected to drone.
I bought the Spark because I couldn’t afford a Mavic. I have a DJI Phantom 3A, but wanted something smaller and was intrigued by the gesture modes. Overall (with the exception of the software – see edit!) I’m pleased. As others have commented, DJI packed a lot of technology into the little Spark body. The gesture modes are fun once you get them wired. It’s rather comical having it follow you around like a flying puppy! Hand launching and landing are useful if you don’t have a clear area to launch/land, though hand landing can be a bit tricky until you get the timing down because those spinning propellers are just inches away from your hand (I got whacked once by them. It stung, but didn’t break the skin)! The selfie mode is also fun.
DJI Spark: My Favorite Go To Aerial Photography Multicopter
The Spark is my go to aerial photography multicopter. Don’t let the lack of having a 4K camera and a three axis gimbal be a reason to dismiss the Spark.
Short battery and many function.
